Trampoline Parks - Asia Pacific

Services Provided: International Licensing Development

The Challenge

The largest trampoline operator in the world engaged our services to assist them with assessing the market potential for their concept as well as providing introductions to licensee partner candidates in the Asia Pacific region. Trampoline parks are typically 2-3 thousand square meter properties with high 6+ meter ceilings.

Our Approach

We met with a wide variety of large Asia based real estate developers as well as amusement park and attractions operators to determine the feasibility of the concept as well as the projected financial returns. We also met with parents via focus groups to assess their interest in this type of activity after school or on weekends.

Results

Our analysis suggested that the concept had very little appeal given the cost of operating large box entertainment venues as well as the likely frequency of customer visits. Most Asia Pacific landlords do not provide leasehold improvement support to tenants and large footprint sites with high ceilings have very limited availability. Moreover, Asian parents want their children to be home studying after school or at enrichment courses (music, calligraphy, science, English language, etc.) and consider fun activities something to do during weekends. Operating a business like this during weekends and holidays only would not yield attractive financial returns for licensee partners. We therefore, recommended the company to focus on higher potential regions such as the Middle East and the UK/EU.
